Torino 2006

Anybody getting excited for the upcoming olympics? I currently believe the event has become little more than a glorified X-games, but am trying to find inspirational stories and reasons to watch. It looks like the American hockey team faces the same odds that the fabled University of Minnesota squad did in 1980. The bobsled, luge, curling, biathlon, and skeleton have never been America's cup of tea. Sasha Cohen and Michelle Kwan are pretty cute, but does either really have a chance at winning? Last I read, Kwan tore her hip and Sasha was preoccupied with Project Runway appearances. I do like that there is both a Chicagoan and a Cornellian in the figure skating though. Maybe I will just prepare for the World Cup and Beijing '08.
