Sosa Spectatular

Slammin' Sammy Sosa hit his 600th home run last night against the team that's credited with his first 545, and instantly put himself right next to Bonds in the "numbers too good to ignore alleged, but undeniable, steroid use" column. While only 20% of Hall of Fame voters thought he should be in the Hall last winter, tonight 7 of 8 ESPN analysts sang a different tune. My opinion? Send him to Cooperstown. Sure, I'm biased as this man gave me one of the greatest summers of my life, but my position is the same for Bonds and McGuire. The late '90s are baseball's problem. They clearly looked the other way as players tripled their body sizes and quadrupled their numbers. At first it was exciting and profitable, and their ignorance is probably justified. But when three players are crushing timeless records year after year, only naive fans like myself should be unable to see through that. So, when Bud Selig has a nightmare realizing he turned his back on this corruption and goes witch-hunting, I'm one guy that will only follow as far as the all-powerful asterisk. These men deserve to be in the hall whether you Roger Maris them or not is my position. They should also be part of an exhibit there displaying pictures and stats of the rapid change in physical stature and numbers over the decade before Canseco's Juiced hit shelves. My only complaint is Sammy should be wearing a Cubs jersey, but that is another story involving Jim Hendry, Greg Maddux, and a corked bat that I'll have to explain some other time. Congrats amigo!
