Now I won’t pretend my physics education extended beyond junior year of high school, but the small scientific part of my brain was absolutely baffled the other day upon seeing a single train engine pulling over one hundred cars. Maybe they weren’t loaded, but this was still an incomprehensible feat to me. Once the train is rolling, it’s an object in motion that will stay in motion, but how does it possibly go from an object at rest to rolling multiple times each jouney? I earned a spot in the Inertia Club by mastering those concepts, and this is just one I cannot figure out.
