Athle......tic!

In an age of constant free agency, leagues dominated by the richest teams, and loyalty to nothing but money, there is one remaining true team competing at the highest level. Although I have much stronger ties to Sevilla from a semester abroad, my new Spanish Premier League allegiance is to Athletic Bilbao. The team only allows players from its province, but somehow still competes in the top division. This simple fact inspires possibly the most loyal and passionate fan base in professional sports. I understand it would be hard and somewhat unfair to implement across leagues, but great that at least one squad still has local pride. Vivo el Basque!
