Candidate Match

This is a pretty good candidate allocation tool if you're looking to choose someone for more than chizzled abs and stunning features.

RiDUNKulous

What's cooler: a 7'7" basketball player, or Hansborough dunking over him?

Give Eli a nod

While 2008 may not be starting the way I predicted for Britney (or my other favorites Peyton and Federer), it has been good to Eli Manning. You have probably heard my opinions on this guy in the past, and many of them have not changed. I still view him as a whinny, uninspiring, spineless child. However, we must acknowledge that he has gotten the mediocre Giants to the Super Bowl.

On January 13th, Eli defeated the favored Cowboys while Peyton's favored Colts fell to the Chargers. Why did this event go relatively unmentioned by the Peyton-loving media? Maybe his 15 sponsors campaigned silence fearing embarrassment from his constant appearances during the Chargers-Patriots game and Super Bowl. Maybe all the articles were already written about how Peyton has now proven himself as a "big game winner" while Eli never will. I'm not sure, but it was a revolutionary day for my view of the Mannings. Peyton has seemed invincible for so long, with the only losses coming from his teammates' shortcomings, or being outmatched by the equally invincible Tommy Brady with a superior team. Meanwhile, Eli has only been vincible. He had never really won a big game, and any decent Giants victory was owed to the supporting cast. On January 13th, Eli threw two touchdown passes and led a fourth-quarter scoring drive while Peyton threw two interceptions and came up short.

Now, I'll be the last guy to say Eli is better than Peyton. In fact, pigs will probably fly before I even recognize Eli as a great quarterback. However, he does deserve a nod on this victory and the Packers victory. Congratulations Eli. Now go embarrass yourself in Arizona.
