Maybe spring is in the air, but I also must give praise to Bank of America. I deposited a check this week in an ATM, as simple as putting a dollar in a vending machine. Pin number, insert check, confirm amount, done. A receipt slid out with a picture of my check, after somehow blurring the account number, and that was it. Ten minutes later the transaction was confirmed on my computer. Amazing. Remember when the tellers would give you slack for not completely filling out a deposit slip? Say goodbye to that era, and hopefully that grumpy teller's job as well.

I guess we can call it even after you put a red sticker on every cup holder and trim along the dugouts at Wrigley. Just don't let me hear about any subprime write-offs.

I feel like many of my posts are critical or negative, so let me take a moment to acknowledge something that is right in this world- The US Postal Service. Who could you possibly find to take a letter from Oregon to Florida for $0.41? Sure, the price seems to always increase a week after you buy a book of stamps, but the gross number still impresses me. You'd have to buy your friend a case of beer to deliver a letter across town, or give you a ride to the airport, but these people will take mail from coast to coast for less than a Snickers. The Pony Express started at $5.00 per 1/2 ounce in 1860. Depending on how you calculate monetary growth, that could translate to $15,927.62 today, making $0.41 cents almost unfathomable.
